Baked Cajun Shrimp

If you’re craving something quick, flavorful, and just the right amount of spicy, this Baked Cajun Shrimp will hit the spot. Cajun seasoning brings together smoky paprika, garlic, onion, and a little heat, while the oven locks in that juicy tenderness. Whether served as a main dish over rice, tucked into tacos, or enjoyed as a party appetizer, these shrimp are pure flavor in every bite.

Ingredients You’ll Need

(Serves 2–3 as a main, 4–6 as an appetizer)

12 large shrimp, peeled, deveined, and cooked (or raw if you prefer juicier results — see tip below)

2 tablespoons canola oil (or olive oil)

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 ½ teaspoons salt (adjust to taste)

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat)

Fresh parsley or green onions, chopped, for garnish

Lemon wedges, for serving

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prep the Shrimp

If using cooked shrimp:

Pat them dry with paper towels so the seasoning sticks better.
If using raw shrimp:

Peel, devein, and pat dry — these will bake to tender perfection in the oven.

2. Make the Cajun Seasoning

In a mixing bowl, combine:

Smoked paprika

Onion powder

Garlic powder

Salt

Cayenne pepper (optional)

3. Coat the Shrimp

Place the shrimp in a large bowl.

Drizzle with canola oil and toss to coat.

Sprinkle the Cajun seasoning over the shrimp and toss until evenly coated.

4. Bake

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

Arrange shrimp in a single layer on a lined baking sheet.

Bake for:

Cooked shrimp: 5–6 minutes (just to heat and crisp slightly)

Raw shrimp: 8–10 minutes, until pink and opaque

5. Garnish and Serve

Remove from oven and sprinkle with fresh parsley or green onions.

Serve with lemon wedges for that zesty finishing touch.

Serving Ideas

Over steamed rice or Cajun dirty rice for a full meal

Tossed into buttery pasta for a Cajun shrimp Alfredo twist

In shrimp tacos with slaw and lime crema

On a party platter with cocktail sauce or remoulade

Tips for Success

Don’t overbake — shrimp cook quickly, and overcooking will make them rubbery.

Make it your own — add dried thyme or oregano to the seasoning for extra flavor depth.

Meal prep friendly — season shrimp ahead of time, store in the fridge, and bake when ready.
